This is a two day class with the first day being a classroom portion only.
Topics covered include basic safety equipment, PPE, the saws reactive forces, chain tooth parts, felling, notch and hinge, cutting techniques, wedging techniques and calculations. This class is
designed for professionals and homeowners and is a 12 hour course that includes a hands on portion where each student fells one tree. (Max of 10 students). A location provided
by a host is needed for tree cutting. All students required to have a helmet with face shield, safety glasses, chainsaw resistant chaps, leather work gloves or chainsaw resistant
gloves and work boots. (some PPE available for loan).
The pofessional version of this class is 16 hours and all students will operate saws on the fisrt day of training.
Topics covered include ethanol gas and its effects on two cycle engines. Simple things to maintain your saw to keep it ready for use at all times, carburetor tuning and adjusting, chain sharpening
techniques, air cleaner maintenance and others. During this class we will actually work on your equipment and go through each step to identify and fix (if possible) problems as we encounter
them. Class is approximately 4 hours.
Professional version is 8 hours.
This class is an advanced class for chain saw operators who will be dealing with trees that have come down due to severe weather. THE SKILLS AND SAFETY CLASS IS A MANDATORY PREREQUISITE. This
class will teach students techniques to relieve pressure commonly found in storm damaged trees. Topics include, hazards, spring poles, hangers and leaners, pulls and splits and others. A location
provided by a host is necessary for cutting. All students are required to have a helmet with face shield, safety glasses, chainsaw resistant chaps, leather work gloves or chainsaw resistant gloves
and work boots.
Class is 8 hours and mostly hands on cutting after a brief classroom instruction period.
